Happy New Year!
Since I moved the site over to the new system, almost a year ago, I have toyed with the idea of what this site should be. For some time I limited what I posted here to technology related things; mostly Linux how-to type shit. My idea was to keep this site limited to mostly those Linux posts, and to have several other domains focused on my other hobbies. For some reason I thought that splitting everything up into separate areas would be the way to go, and I registered and set up several other sites ….. I no longer think that this is true.
Starting today, lifeafter2am.net is going to “merge” with those other domains. Not in the sense that magically a whole bunch of old shit is going to show up here, but in the sense that this place is going to more accurately reflect me, lifeafter2am. Instead of limiting this place to posts about Linux issues, there are going to be more posts about anime, martial arts, art, and all the other crazy shit that I find interesting. Not saying that the Linux and Security posts are going to disappear … they are not, it is just not going the be the focus of the site in it’s entirety.
On this same note, I am sad to say that [project2501] is officially on hold for awhile. Some time ago Arch dropped support for AUFS in the kernel, and this was the linchpin of the Larch build scripts I was using to produce it. There are solutions to this issue (custom-built kernel, older LTS kernel, different build scripts) but none of them look all that attractive to me right now. It’s not that I can’t do them, it’s that I just don’t care enough to do it at this point in time. Not saying that the project won’t be revived at some point ….. just not anytime in the near future. If you feel the need to continue the project, please feel free to fork it from my github.
tl;dr The site is going to have a much wider variety of posts in the coming year.
Yoi otoshi o!
